Kin of disappeared picket DAO
JANAKPUR, Aug 30 : The relatives of the persons disappeared during the Maoist insurgency on Friday picketed the District Administration Office in Janakpur demanding that the government disclose the whereabouts of their disappeared kin.
The family members of the disappeared staged a two-hour sit-in in front of the DAO. They also submitted a memorandum to the chief district officer demanding justice.
Sanjeev Karna, Jitendra Jha and Durgesh Lal of Janakpur; Pramod Narayan Mandal, of Kurtha in Dhanusha and Sailendra Yadav of Duhabi were disappeared on October 8, 2003 from Janakpur-4 by the security personnel accusing them of abetting then Maoist rebels.
Similarly, Amar BK of Bengadabar, Manoj Dutta of Janakpur and Ram Chandra Lal Karna of Nagarain were also disappeared by the state security forces from Janakpur.
The irate family members said they want the government to take action against then chief district officer, superintendent of police and NA in-charge in Janakpur.
In 2005, the families of the disappeared victims had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding court order to the government to disclose the whereabouts of their missing kin.
The National Human Right Commission had recovered the remains of bodies of the disappeared victims three years ago. The remains were sent for DNA test but the report of the test is yet to be made public.
